Reports Suggest Thief On Xbox One Will Run Short Of 1080p

Thief-Release-Date

We’re at the beginning of a new console generation, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the trend were beginning to notice doesn’t matter. New reports from industry insider, Thuway, suggest that Thief will fall short of the 1080p mark on the Xbox One. As a side note, there was no mention of what native resolution the PS4 will offer.

This has yet to be confirmed by the developer or publisher, so it has to be couched as rumor. Multiplatform games falling short of expected resolution and performance benchmarks is probably going to be the norm until developers fully understand the new hardware.

We’ll keep our ear to the ground for more information on this issue. We’ve reached out to Eidos Montreal and Square Enix for confirmation or denial of these reports and will update when we hear more.

It baffles me why everyone takes what this guy says as fact. All he does is spout rumors. He’s gotten some right, but he’s also gotten many wrong as well. If it doesn’t come from the developers and publishers, there’s really no reason to make an article.

    • No one’s taking this as truth-fact, but I can tell you he’s been right about things more often than some “insiders” and analysts.

Everyone knows he’s a bias fanboy. The only rumors he posts are bad news ones about XB1 and Microsoft. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him post a positive rumor about the system.

        • Well this is really strange. I was about to update this post to say he was proven false. Eidos Montreal’s head of QA responded to Thuway and Pete Dodd on Twitter saying both versions would be 1080p, but he didn’t mention if that was native, or not. He also outright said not to ask him about the framerate. Then he deleted his own Tweet. If you look, it’s not there anymore.
