IGN Sale Nearing Completion Update: Ziff Davis Finalized Sale

According to reliable sources, News Corp. has nearly completed it’s sale of IGN gaming to Ziff Davis and it’s parent company J2 Global. The price of the sale is still a mystery, however in 2005 News Corp. paid $650M for IGN. Sources say however that Ziff Davis will be paying considerably less this time around.

IGN operates numerous sites including askmen.com, gamestats.com, gamespy.com, and of course IGN itself. J2 Global currently owns properties like pcmag.com, geek.com, etc.

IGN has been on the market for the past six months after a failed attempt to spin off. The sale is being compared to another News Corp. sale in 2011 that unloaded the failed social media outlet MySpace.

Update: It appears as if the deal has been finalized. Ziff Davis now owns IGN gaming. No firm sale price was given. However, sources say it was less than the $100M that News Corp. was initially asking for. We hope that all of the IGN staff stays intact during the transitional period.
