In a rare public speaking appearance, Gabe Newell delivered the opening Keynote during the D.I.C.E. SUMMIT 2013. GabeN spoke mostly about the innovations being made in the PC platform, and how close the PC industry is to getting a box into your living room (not necessarily a Steambox).
GabeN spoke about user generated content on Steam and the challenges Valve has faced creating the user generated content marketplace. In some cases he referred to sending 500k W-4′s out to users that have generated content and sold it on Steam.
It was a rare look into Gabe Newell’s mind, but no Half Life 3 or Steambox announcements happened. If you missed it live you didn’t miss a huge announcement, but I would definitely recommend watching Gabe’s speech at a later time.
