Nvidia debuts Project Shield Handheld at CES

Nvidia develops Graphics Processors that are used all over the Gaming Industry. PC, Mobile, you name it. They have started creating the ability to use legitimate titles on the go. Their Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 processors are in some of the major tablets on the market. Tablet gaming is becoming more elaborate and is able to offer more than just the “time wasters” we’re used to in the mobile gaming market.

With the Announcement of the Tegra 4 Processor Nvidia jumped a step further in creating it’s own mobile gaming platform Project Shield. They have revealed some Specs for the new handheld including: a 5 inch , 720p HD display and an attached controller that will offer the standard console or PC controller layout.

The OS will be Android so it will offer developers tons of options when creating titles. Nvidia was able to output HD video at 720p to a 4k display without frame rate or degradation. Which all together means the Tegra 4 Processor is boasting the new Industry Standard for mobile gaming.

Another huge selling point is the access to your PC/Steam titles as long as you’re connected on the same network!

Look for more information on Project Shield to be forthcoming as Nvidia is dialing into a Q2 2013 release window. Hopefully more hands on time with the handheld will be possible upcoming as the release date narrows.
